WISC thanks Hemant Lala for his service

The Wellington Indian Sports Club Executive pass on their warmest thanks to departing Premier Mens coach Hemant Lala for his service to the club over the past two years.

Lala has decided to step down from coaching the Premier Men to spend time with his family, a decision which the Executive supports whole-heartedly. Speaking about the decision Lala said, “I want to have winter evenings and weekends back, to spend with my young family.”

Lala has been instrumental in his role as Premier Mens coach over the last two years. It is no secret that there was a period of time when Mens hockey struggled at WISC, but Lala was able to bring the group together and achieve results that the club can be proud of.

Signing Hemant in 2021 was a significant decision for the Executive, but one that ultimately paid dividends this year, when Lala was able to lead the team to winning the Dhyan-Chand trophy and the Cello Premier One Mens competition.

Talking about the last two seasons, Lala said he is “super proud of what we were able to do in the play offs and during those games we found our real style and showed exactly what we were capable of.”

The Executive will now be exploring their options for the 2023 Premier Mens Season and welcome any expressions of interest to, adminvp@wisc.org.nz or menshockey@wisc.org.nz
